      you =)
      a lota love,
knowing that even if it's snowing outside and 17 below zero you've got a place to snuggle up under the blankies with some rocks from your fire wrapped up in the bottom of your sleeping bag.
When your dogs don't let any other dog any where near the door cause it's the only place in the free world they know as home :)
      A bed is helpful ;)
Breaking down on the side of the road and sleeping in your bus, cause, well, it's home.
A bit of food stashed amongst all your posessions.
Rocks and herbs you've picked up along the way.
And yep, pretty much just you!
LOve it, I miss those gypsy days :_)

I'm still working on my bus but here's what will make her home:

-renewable wood floors in soft colors (or failing that CORK!)
    -hippy made bed coverings
    -tibet made door hangings
    -statuary from various sources
    -well worn bean bags
    -posters of fav rockers/movies/art/sayings
-sacred space in the bed room to meditate
    -soft pillows EVERYWHERE :)

But mostly the first night out under the stars on the porch w/ a cup of tea.

Bamboo wood floors are really great in buses...we found a great deal on tounge and groove flooring, or we would have went with bamboo.

For me it has always been a woodstove that makes a place SOOO cozy...in whatever type of home I have lived in be it tipi, yurt or bus,we have always had a woodstove with glass insert.

There is just a wonderful life and energy to woodheat that central heat cannot compare to.

I love it when we are on the road and parked over at a walmart parking lot or something and it is cold out.As soon as we draw the drapes and fire up the stove its like we are in some far off remote wilderness .

Its so funny but people just do not seem to notice the smoke coming out the chimney ,it just doesnt compute.

We look out the window and its like,

"woah...walmart parking lot !" while inside we are gazing at the beautiful flames of our cozy fire.

Definitely everyone should at least consider a woodstove in a bus conversion, though it does need to be done safely.

We have info on our blog about how we did our stove last year.Maybe someone will find it useful

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I've seen your bus on skoolies :)

I "borrowed" some ideas for when TCD (whose name will be changing) is ready for framing and such.

While I'm having real trouble with getting that pesky floor done, I am looking forward to collecting liveables and the like. K.I.S.S. is my method.
Anyway, awesome travel photos, Pixie. My big girl and I shall be joining other travelers next year :) And I can't wait!

I wanted to add that I found companies that still make the pot bellied stoves used in railroad. Most of the big PB for rail are too big IMO but this UK company makes them much smaller so I might have to order from overseas.

Floor is 95% done with only the wood to be laid and screwed down. I'll be ordering the flooring, and some bus replacement parts over the next several weeks. I hope to order the stove sometime very early next year. Right now I can think about framing, electrical and plumbing.
