Probaly a bad timing chain. Push fods don't bend them selfs. It can happen with extream over reving with older engins. The modifer if the coach, did nothing to the engin it is factory. So the manul applies. There should be a section on checking the valve timing, a bad timing chain would throw off the valve timing. Even if it was running ok, the chain goes out suddenly. I drove it from columus ohio to akron ohio about 120 miles made it and died.
