  try posting an ad in one of the many free spots on the web or even in greensheets. Personally, at $500 I'd not touch it but you never know what you get w/ those diesels.
  Try the school districts-its good chance that any of the vehicles they have might still run/be in good condition plus if you ask, they might even fork over the repair records (I did so w/ my school bus so I knew what had been done last before she was retired).
