Well with winter on its way it'll be cold for most folks (save for us living in So. calif non mountain area). However, I plan on doing some winter camping next time so instead of propane, I've opt for what I have in my house-a cast iron stove. This one is marine built so it should work out better w/ a moving vehicle. Already comes with holes in the floor. I just like it all around even if the price is serious OUCH factor. I chose this one because the next bus I built will be much larger thus require more heat and also I didn't bother with insulating FV either.

Re: Heating...
Sun, April 22, 2007 - 12:45 PMBack to the heating thing-this winter/early spring has been a real COLD one. I'm a so-cal gal; really super cold weather does not a happy camper make!
I'm rethinking insulating FV w/ some eco-friendly materials on top of the little stove I've picked out. Haven't ordered it yet as I'm still dealing with some minor issues w/ the flooring near the front door. Otherwise, in my own procrastinating way, I'm moving along fine. I mentioned to someone here that my neighbor will be helping me out a bit next month (for $$ which is only fair since I can't give him what I REALLY want to give him *dirty grin*)
Also, if anyone is going the same way I am, I recommend you invest in lots of good thick rugs & good (read more pricey) sheets and blankets. I'm not one to sleep if I'm not warm. I've planned as part of the price of building to incorporate some Hudson blankets (can't wait to get these!) FV has always been about having space to just lay around that isn't necessarily a tent without the need to think about how much like an 'RV' she should look like.
